ROSP
ROSP stands for linked operation of reverse osmosis (RO) desalination and SAL-PROC™ processes. The integrated process enables the comprehensive use of saline impaired water through combined recovery of fresh water and useful salt minerals and chemical compounds. The linked process can be designed and operated to achieve either zero or regulated discharge outcomes. In most cases, SAL-PROC™ process steps can be applied for pretreatment of the feed to RO processes to selectively remove dissolved species to reduce the risk of fouling, extend the life of RO membranes and to maximize water recovery rates. By applying SAL-PROC™ to the tail end of the desalination systems it is possible to effectively reduce the salt load and volume of RO concentrate thus minimizing the disposal costs and footprint. There are numerous linkage options possible between RO desalination and SAL-PROC™ processes for integrated water and by-products recovery and waste minimization.
